Alex graduated from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP) with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Sports Science. While there he played four years as a catcher/infielder. While there he won 2020 Male Athlete of the Year while batting .378 with 6 home runs. After UNCP he moved to Houston, Texas where he began my coaching career. He logged a year in the Frontier League as a Bullpen Coach/Player with the Florence Freedom (Y'alls). Then ran the Canes Southwest Houston Travel Organization for the past 3 years as a Coach and Director of Baseball Operations. While in Houston he was able to observe and learn from renowned catching and hitting guru Turtle Thomas, as well as the likes of the Texas Baseball Ranch, and Florida Baseball Armory.  This past year at PDG he was the Catching Coordinator and Assistant Hitting Coordinator.
